Believe it or not, I can’t wait to spend the rest of the summer coding with high school students I haven’t yet met!
Over the last two weeks, I helped high school juniors and seniors code websites advocating topics they care about passionately. I facilitated a sisterhood of young women lifting each other in praise and graduating from the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program (GWC SIP) with new skills, newfound friendships, and innovative perspectives on their futures. And over the next 6 weeks, I will see another 60 students, from all over the world, take risks, be brave, and discover how great Computer Science can be.
With COVID-19 continuing to provide new daily challenges that now includes minimizing interactions with other people some of our daily tasks such as going to the bank and going the post office are now becoming more problematic. To help us work together more effectively during this Pandemic I wanted to share with you a method for paying your company invoices online with Bear Web Design using your company check and our secure Quickbooks System (Intuit Payment Network).
Most companies are familiar with paying invoices online with credit cards but for companies that traditionally pay thru their bank account the Check Transfer (ACH) is a good option. Over the last year or so many companies have been paying Bear Web Design online so if you are already doing that we thank you!
Here are some of the advantages to paying online via company check:
It is fast and secure – no printing of checks, stamping envelopes and mailing out. (all you need is your bank routing number & check number – no other setup).
It eliminates mistakes as you can only pay invoices that you owe.
It processes directly into our accounting system (no entry at our end).
Our cost is 1% with a $10.00 cap with Quickbooks Online versus higher rates and fees for Credit/Debit card. (so it is our preferred payment method)
It eliminates us going to the post office, entering in transactions at our office, writing our deposits and going to the bank (which is significant in time savings as well).
Here is a quick video to show you how had to pay your Bear Web Design Invoice via our secure Quickbooks System:
During this extremely tough time we want to thank all our clients for working with us and we hope both you and your business remain healthy and strong.

On a personal note I want to share my thoughts, prayers and hopes to all our clients, their families and friends. We stand with you during this storm and we will continue to stand with you when this storm is over.
With modern websites becoming more and more sophisticated in both look and behavior the expectation that a standard web hosting company will take care of everything your website needs is simply not correct. The game plan of hiring a web designer that builds a new website and then moves it to a hosting company to sit indefinitely is no longer a viable plan for you or your website. Today you really need a webmaster.
The new block editor, also known as Gutenberg, stands to change the way you create and update content on your WordPress site.
It’s likely you have experienced the classic WordPress editor. You might use it to post a blog, for instance. It’s also likely that you had to look up how to complete complex tasks like style changes, adding buttons or changing the background color. (You may have also asked your friendly agency for assistance.)
We all visit websites for similar reasons regardless of the technology we use to interact with it. A person who is visually impaired will use a bank’s website to pay a bill with the same intent as someone who doesn’t use assistive technology. A person using their mobile device requires the same functionality of someone using their desktop. Just as a good site design will have considered the requirements of different screens, good site design needs to consider a variety of users’ needs and accessibility issues. This is called Web Accessibility.
Just about every company and organization today has a website. Pending how long you have been in business you may have had a company website for 10 plus years. That website has probably been thru several redesigns and upgrades while remaining a constant primary marketing tool and/or e-commerce vehicle for your company.
Have you heard about WordPress? You may be considering it for your new website. You may need a website; you know how important it is, you just “don’t have the time”.
